getting hurt, being rejected by the ones we love is one of man's most basic fears
that's why there are those who close themselves off from emotion
especially if they've been burned before.
but i've come to realize that by turning away because of the risk of pain you also walk away from a chance at happiness.

and that would be a great shame.

because happiness, as fleeting as it may be, is one of life's greatest gifts..
