death

Death is the termination of the biological functions that define a living organism.

that's the definition in the dictionary. so detached. no emotion. as if that word encompasses nothing at all. and yet when a person's life is touched by that nothing remains the same.

and i remain to wonder, why?

why do we have to lose the people we love?

it's not only death that we grieve, it's pain, and loss, and change.

why should we lose fathers? mothers? sisters? friends?

i know that life is a cycle, that death is the natural way for everything to end, i know that, but an irrational part of heart is crying out in the pain of it all.

it's hard to be left behind. to pick up the pieces of your heart and life as you know the ones who have passed would want you to.

we're left with nothing but memories. memories of their love, their laughter..

memories of how they made us better and stronger.

and somehow that should be enough. we should never let ourselves forget.

until it is our ashes who lie beneath the ground we shall let their memories live in our hearts.
for families can never be torn apart, not by distance, not by death. one in blood.. one in heart..
